Formula for the Perfect Superhero Name
Have you ever noticed how superhero names follow a pattern?
Sometimes they end in ‘man’ or ‘woman’:
- Superman
- Wonder Woman
- Spiderman
- Catwoman
Or they start with ‘the’:
- The Wasp
- The Atom
Sometimes they start with a profession, like ‘captain’ or ‘doctor’:
- Captain America
- Doctor Doom
And sometimes they use colours:
- Green Lantern
- Black Panther
And lots of them use animals – this short list includes bats, cats, wasps, spiders, and panthers.
There are lots of different ways to put together your superhero name. Have a go at a few now, by answering these questions:
- If your boring superpower were a job, what would that job be called? (So, fixing the TV would make you an engineer, or making cups of tea might make you a brewer, or a steeper perhaps)
- If your personality had a colour, what colour would it be? (mine would be yellow, because I’m a smiley person and I love the outdoors)
- What kind of animal lurks in your superpower? (If your superpower is being quiet, then a quiet animal like a cat or a rabbit might be good. If you are really good at running maybe you’re a greyhound or a racehorse. Think outside the box!)
- Finally, what object is linked to your superpower? (a teacup/mug? A screwdriver? Are you The Teaspoon?)
Now you’ve come up with these answers you have lots of names to choose from. Do you want to be The Engineer? Are you the Blue Screwdriver? Take a few minutes to decide (don’t worry about it too much though, you can always change it later!)
