Chapter 8 A ballad for Boudica
Chapter Eight: A creative writing exercise to create a Ballad for Boudica.
A ballad is like a simple song and it fits perfectly with music. You can speak or sing a ballad. A ballad can be the grand introduction to your story or it can be used at the end - your final thoughts on the story - it’s like the credits are rolling and you want to leave your listener on a dramatic or poetic note.
Each stanza or verse is a four line quatrain with alternate rhymes.

Not every lines needs to rhyme. You can rhyme with A with A or B with B. Remember this is your poem, you can use the structure as a guideline but if you would rather break free from the ballad structure and free style then go for it!
Here is my idea:
The Ballad of Boudica
A - Through the forest, through the street
B - I followed her, I followed her
A - Hear the stamp of Iceni feet
B - I followed her, I followed her
A - Our leader fierce of fiery fame
B - I followed her, I followed her
A - Remember her glorious name
B - I followed her, I followed her
